It is known that a wild bear went berserk and killed three persons in Mahasamund district of Chhattisgarh in India on Saturday. But it has come to light that policemen also went berserk when they shot it dead with over 100 bullets.
The footage of over 100 bullets being fired at the female bear has surfaced. The police were called in after forest officials failed to trap the bear.
Out of the 100 bullets 16 pierced the sloth bear. Explaining the bear encounter, a police officer said that the bear was very aggressive and had gone on the rampage, killing a forest officer and two villagers, and the cops had no other option.
Around 10 jawans with rifles and automatic weapons shot the bear on Saturday in the eastern part of the Indian state after it killed two villagers and a forest official who was reportedly trying to tranquilize it.
The sloth bear mauled the villagers late on Saturday, sparking a police hunt after worried villagers demanded its capture.
Tribal villagers had found the bodies of the two men after they failed to return from a trip to the forest to pick edible flowers, triggering a search for them. Sloth bears can grow up to six feet in length and weigh up to 140 kgs.
